Spilling Thoughts

What if the result doesn't worth?
The biggest question that keeps haunting my mind. At some moments I feel a very big excitement doing things I consider as my passion, but isn't it something human to feel in doubt and insecure about what the future may hold?

Recently, the national exam for high school students has been conducted. It has come to my attention since many students complained through the official instagram of the ministry of education. Sounds funny yet irony, that every year the national exam keeps getting protested. Reminds me of how the difficulty of the national exam was irrational during my high school.

I could never be clear whether to oppose the government or to support them, to complain like other students or not. My father always teach me the miracle of 'jalan tengah' and empathy. If I can assume, from the governor point of view, such questions was the best way to test the understanding of students. But for students, such exam was irrational and useless. Both side could be true, don't you think so?

I clearly remember days after the national exam was held, I didn't attribute failing to external factors. I told myself that I had nothing to lose, because I enjoyed the process of learning so many things. Hence, I accepted whatever the result was, while it was surprisingly the best result I had achieved. The same concept I used when I was asked about how will I respond if things don't go as my expectation, during the PPAN selection interview. I also use the term to name every exchange application folders.

The concept nothing to lose is very tough indeed. I might have lose some time, but I get somewhat valuable experience in return. It requires huge self acceptance, ikhlas, patience, and the ability to recharge your spirit back. Being ikhlas and patient is easy when you have truly accepted the condition you are facing and to accept that whatever happens in your life was meant to happen. Everything happens for a reason, whether its a blessing or a lesson. If He took something from you, then He will give you back something better. You know, it is easier to say than to practice. Acceptance might need time. While you keep denying, you might have the same question as I do: where does this test actually takes me? Ask human, they will give you 1001 ways to rome. But, I choose to ask help from God, He gives unbreakable promises and answers every problems through the holy Quran.

Sometimes we are hopeless, really really hopeless. We make mistakes, which made our life uncomfortable. We ask a lot of things to Him. So that he will give us mercy, show us the right way, ease trouble, and many other requests in life. He never rejects our prayer, but answers our prayer in three other ways: 1) Yes, or Yes but not now; 2) I have something better; or 3) I have something better in the hereafter. Giving up is not a choice. We never know what might happen. “Perhaps you hate a thing that is best for you, and you love a thing that is bad for you. Allah knows, while you know not.” (2:216).  When we feel like we've lost everything and there's nothing left to be done, remember "Surely Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their belongings and in return has promised that they shall have Paradise." (9:111). What is the worth of dunya compared to the hereafter? Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.

Rewind 2017

Tahun 2017, 2016, 2015.

Buatku, tahun 2017 banyak menyimpan kisah.

She was a curious girl. Always excited to experience new things. She was highly engaged to her parents, although they were distanced by age. Sometimes it creates a gap, where they can't relate what this girl just experienced with the perception of her parents. For the sake of the girl which doesn't understand much about life she's always put to stay away from her parents arguments. Then, it becomes a habit. The habit where this girl is always excluded from every decision her parents make.

Initial formation of the team

It's my 7th day since I started being wide awake in the midnight and fall asleep in the morning until noon. Every night the voices in my head speaks louder and louder. So much unfinished business calling me while I'm trying to close my eyes. Yes, I am still restless and couldn't erase the guilt from my mind, of what has happened in the past few weeks.

Keep in mind, zid, you must not stress over it, you shall finish your business and trust that Allah will easen things.

Indeed, every hardships comes with ease.

2016, was a tough year. Also, a breakthrough-limit-year.

There are moments that I would just lay down in my bed and get tearful. I'm not being dramatic. It wasn't just once or twice, my heart was really fragile throughout the year. I get sensitive easily. Most of my time was stressful (and lonely). Even tested with depression scale, I was categorized in moderate depression. Gladly, I'm aware of the things that made me depressive. At some moments I would regret being a psychology student, because then I knew how unhealthy psychologically I was all this time. But on the other side, I should be grateful 'cause it was an outpatient cure for me too. hehe. Guess it was part of growing up where I must hardly leave my childhood and begin to struggle for the future.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Despite the hard times I've been through, there are memories that I am grateful of. As I said before, this year I have been (trying to) break through my limit.

As some of you may know, I don't really talk much with my friends or even in public. My grandma used to be a headmaster and a teacher, my dad is a lecture. And people (will) expect me to be like them in some way. Basically, both profession needs good communication skill (which I don't). I decided to participate as a co-trainer for the new student orientation in my campus. I do realize that it was pretty hard for me to spontaneously speak in public. I'm the kind of person which needs to write down a speech text the night before. But yea, at least I had an experience 'cause experience is the best teacher

Last but never least. I break through my physical and time limit with this team. So, we participated in this Acehnese dance festival in Jakarta. It was a really tiring month to practice almost everyday and night. I could actually call them home, but not really because when I'm with them I still have my mom telling me to come home. Ironically, we have anticipated to lose from the beginning (which we did lost). But yeah, the process we have been through was definitely an unforgettable experience. I learned so much, that we should never strive to win, but to feel satisfied with ourselves instead. We completely understand how we are different from the standards, but it just gives us satisfaction when we could give our best after all.

I don't know what its gonna be like in 2017. I don't wanna hope for something too big and unrealistic. My wish and also my kind of resolution for this year is to be happy and make other people happy too. Bahagia itu sederhana, kan?

Ketika ditanya apa pekerjaanku maka jawabannya adalah mahasiswa. Pernahkah kamu bertanya kenapa mahasiswa dikategorikan suatu pekerjaan?
